PhysCAD License Agreement
Version 1.0, November 2026
This agreement is between you (an individual, or the company you buy PhysCAD for) and Physics Anonymous LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of PhysCAD ("the Software"). By installing, activating or using the Software you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it, and if you've paid, ask for a refund (see 9).
1. What You Get
1.1 A license, not a sale of the code. When you buy a license key you get a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable (except as in 1.5) license to install and use the Software, for any lawful personal or commercial purpose, on up to three (3) computers you own or control at a time.
1.2 It never expires. Your right to use the versions you're entitled to (1.3) lasts forever. It does not depend on a subscription, on our website, or on an internet connection after activation.
1.3 Updates. Your license includes every version of the Software we release during your Update Period: one (1) year from the date you bought the license, extended by one year for each "update year" you buy. A new year starts when the current one ends (or on the day you buy it, if the last one has already ended). Versions released after your Update Period ends aren't included, but every version you were entitled to stays yours to use forever. We may release updates, or not, at our discretion; nothing here promises a particular feature or schedule.
1.4 Activation. The first time the Software runs on a computer it asks for your key and checks it with our server once. Moving to a new computer: deactivate one (in the Software, or at physcad.io/license) to free its place.
1.5 Transfer. You may transfer your license to someone else once, permanently, by telling us at the support address and removing the Software from your computers. The new owner takes it on these terms.
2. What You May Not Do
Except as these terms or applicable law expressly allow, you may not:
(a) share, publish, sell or give away license keys, or use one key on more computers than 1.1 allows;
(b) copy, rent, lease, lend, sublicense or redistribute the Software (you may make backup copies of the installer for your own use);
(c) remove, disable or work around activation, licensing or update checks, or make or use tools that do;
(d) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law permits this despite this restriction, and except as allowed for the open-source parts by their own licenses (section 6);
(e) remove or change copyright notices or these terms.
3. Your Work Is Yours
Everything you make with the Software (models, drawings, toolpaths, G-code, renders, animations and exported files) belongs to you. We claim no rights in it, and the Software doesn't send it anywhere.
4. Machining And Safety
The Software generates toolpaths and G-code for real machines that can damage themselves, tools, workpieces and property, and can injure people. Toolpaths, simulations, feeds and speeds, collision checks and post-processor output are aids, not guarantees. YOU are responsible for checking every program before running it: simulate it, verify tool lengths, offsets, work coordinates and clearances, run it first at reduced feed and rapid rates or above the part, and operate the machine in line with its manufacturer's instructions and safe shop practice. Designs, drawings and dimensions produced with the Software are likewise yours to check before relying on them.
5. Privacy: What The Software Sends
The Software does not collect telemetry and shows no ads. It contacts our server only when (a) you activate or deactivate it: your license key, an anonymous computer identifier (a one-way hash, not your hardware serial), the computer's name, the operating system and the Software's version; and (b) you choose Check for Updates: your license key, operating system and version. We use this only to run your license. Features that open other websites (for example a parts catalog) are governed by those sites' own terms.
6. Open-Source Components
The Software includes open-source components (for example Open CASCADE Technology and libheif, under the GNU LGPL; three.js and others under the MIT license; Intel Open Image Denoise weights under Apache 2.0; fonts under the SIL Open Font License). Those components are licensed to you under their own licenses, listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES included with the Software, and nothing in this agreement limits your rights under them. Where an LGPL license requires it, you may modify and replace those library components and reverse engineer the Software to the extent needed to debug such changes.
7. Ownership
The Software, its code, design and documentation are owned by Physics Anonymous and protected by copyright and other laws. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
8. Warranty
We warrant that, for 30 days from purchase, the Software will perform substantially as described on physcad.io. Your remedy for a breach of that warranty is a full refund (section 9). OTHERWISE, AND TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY THAT IT WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT ITS OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR SAFE TO RUN ON A MACHINE.
9. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
Not happy, for any reason? Email support@physcad.io with your order number within 30 days of buying a license or an update year, and we'll refund it in full, to the original payment method. No questions asked. When we refund a license, its key is deactivated and you must stop using that copy of the Software. When we refund an update year, we may remove that year from your Update Period. Our full Refund Policy is at physcad.io/legal.
10. Limitation Of Liability
TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, TIME, MATERIALS, TOOLING OR MACHINE DAMAGE, ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE OR ITS OUTPUT, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE LICENSE AND UPDATE YEARS IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; you may have other rights under your local law that this agreement can't take away.
11. Ending This Agreement
You can end it at any time by deleting the Software. We can end it if you materially break it and don't fix the breach within 30 days of our notice; then you must stop using and delete the Software. Sections 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 and 12 survive.
12. General
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules; disputes go to the state or federal courts in Orange County, Florida, unless the law where you live requires otherwise. It is the whole agreement about the Software and replaces any earlier one. If part of it can't be enforced, the rest still applies. We may update these terms for future versions; the terms that came with a version are the ones that apply to it. Export: you won't use or export the Software in violation of applicable export laws.
13. Trademarks
Tormach, PathPilot, HAAS, FANUC, McMaster-Carr and other names mentioned are trademarks of their respective owners. PhysCAD is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any of them; their names are used only to describe file formats and compatibility.
